Congratulations to Patricia O’Brien
Congratulations to Patty O’Brien, who has won an Australian Research Council Future Fellowship. The award, which will be undertaken at Australian National University, will fund her research on interwar colonialism and violence in Australia and the Pacific.
For thirteen years, Visiting Associate Professor Patty O’Brien has been with the Center for Australian, New Zealand and Pacific Studies. She has a long history of outstanding teaching both at the undergraduate and graduate level. Her scholarship was recognized in 2011 when she received a Jay I. Kislak Fellowship in American Studies at the Library of Congress. In 2012, she received the JD Stout Fellowship in New Zealand Studies at Victoria University Wellington.
Many in the Australian, New Zealand and Pacific Studies community knew Patty through the Australian and New Zealand Studies Association of North America. She took a leading role in advancing the goals of that organization.
Now, she is heading to ANU. We wish her all the very best in her future endeavors and thank her for years of excellent service.
