CANZPS Welcomes Chief Justice Robert French
July 23, 2014. CANZPS was pleased to welcome Robert Shenton French, Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia (second to right in photo), to our center this morning. The Chief justice visited the center with Jim Feinerman, Co-Cirector of the Georgetown Law Center. He met with Center Director Alan Tidwell (at right in photo), visiting scholars Debra Wilson (at left in photo), Clare Sullivan (second to left) and Lindsey Parsons, Program Coordinator.
Chief Justice French was appointed to his role on the High Court of Australia in September of 2008. At the time of his appointment, he had been a judge on the Federal Court of Australia since 1986. He has also served as President of the National Native Title Tribunal, a member of the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory, a member of the Supreme Court of Fiji, Deputy President of the Australian Competition Tribunal and president of the Australian Association of Constitutional Law. CANZPS was pleased to have Chief Justice French visit the center and learn more about our work.
