Joe Hockey
Ambassador from Australia to the U.S.
Mr. Hockey has had a long and distinguished career in public service.
Mr. Hockey first entered Parliament in 1996 as a front bench Member for North Sydney. For more than 17 years he served as Minister of Financial Services, Tourism, Humans Services, and Employment and Workplace Relations.
In 2013, Mr. Hockey was appointed Treasurer of the Commonwealth and made responsible for all fiscal and economic policy. This meant he would become a regular delegate to the IMF, World Bank, Asian Development Bank, and APEC meetings. He was chair of the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors in 2014, and a member of the leadership troika in 2015.
Before his political career, Mr. Hockey served as a finance and banking lawyer with a major Australian law firm.
