The New Zealand Embassy, Washington, D.C. offers two internships working for the New Zealand Ambassador to the US. The overall purpose of these positions is to allow US students to learn about New Zealand, its foreign and trade policy interests, and the New Zealand-United States relationship by participating in the daily activities of the Embassy.
The next internship runs from September to December 2014. With the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement currently being negotiated between the US, NZ and ten other countries, students with an interest in international trade and commercial relationships will particularly benefit from this internship. Preference is given for students enrolled in the CANZPS certificate or the Walsh School, but students with broader interests including communications and public affairs will also be considered.
Interested students should send a one-page cover letter + resume to WSHrecruitment@mfat.govt.nz by Thursday September 4, 2014 stating why they are interested in the internship and what makes them a strong candidate. Interns will be expected to make a commitment to work 8-10 hours a week at the Embassy.
